I spent a few hours arranging and rehearsing to make sure everything was copacetic for my recording session today at The Analog Arcade (Formerly called Ante Up Audio). I also worked with Tommy on his solo EP under his alias, "Stop Motion". I am mixing and mastering it for him. For this project, we programmed drums, recorded him playing guitar, layered it several times, and recorded him singing as well. I also spent a few hours working on a separate remix EP that I was asked to do for Headnodz.fm, which will be released this Friday, the 6th.
We also had to make several calls to confirm our tour stops in Columbus and Philadelphia.
As of right now our tour schedule is:
19th: Long Street Live in Columbus
22nd: Goodbye Blue Monday in Brooklyn, NYC
23rd: Danger Danger in Philadelphia
24th: Public Assembly in Brooklyn
26th: The Grog Shop in Cleveland
It's sort of annoying that we have to go back and forth between New York and Philly but I think it will definitely be worth it. We're still looking to get a show in Pittsburgh and possibly another show in New York. This scheduling process has been very difficult.
but ANYWAY...
Today I had my first recording session at Analog Arcade, which is a world renowned studio in downtown Cleveland. Jim Stewart is my engineer and we worked on recording my vocals and properly mixing my music. Today we finished the intro to my EP as well as the song, "Groundhog Day". We also recorded the songs "Bull Run" and "Shady" but I will definitely be editing and rerecording them because I didn't feel that the first takes of them were exactly what I wanted.
Also, there was a girl from Orange who was interning at Analog Arcade for her senior project, so that was kind of funny that our projects overlapped like that.
I wrote a lot but yeah, everything is going really well so far.
ps. In studio A at the Analog Arcade, on the main console they created a "Talent Boost" dial, which is pretty hilarious given how serious this studio is.
Connor, your project sounds so cool. I'm glad that you are doing it in your field of interest. So cool. If you are interested in suck knobs and high end studio gear, check out mercenaryaudio.com. In addition to their good stuff, they have some comical rack items. The pic looks good. Hopefully things are working out well with the camera. I'm really proud of you, dude.
