Friday 5/6
Today was a great day. I started work alittle earlier than normal but I also got to leave earlier. I worked at Habitat's "ReStore" where all thier donated items are resold to pay for building projects. I was finally able to meet the two women, Kathleen and Megan, who made my project possible. They ere vry nice and were extatic that I was there. I During the day I unloaded the semi numerous time and the washed, fixed, and relocated all the items that were brought in. After they were put on the show floor I had to price them with a price gun which was cool, I've never done that before. I also helpe peple load things that they had purchased as well as heklped unload things people were dropping off to donate. It was a very mild and less labor ntense day. Thank god for it too because I was dead by the end of this week. The work is very dificult when working on site with the demolition team. I'm looking forward to my brother joining me this weekend ( I pick him up in chicago tommoro morning). I have seen alot of great things here but due to my finnacial siuation I havent had any "play money" so itll be nice not to be alone for the rest of my time here. I've been playing alot of guitar and piano here as well. Many of the people who come through here are musicians which is very cool. It helps break the ice. Also the hostle is right next to a costarican dnce club whihc is great to listen to till 3 am. Im looking forward to a good week as Iwill be on the construction team as well as decon. The weather is beautiful here as well. It makes me hate cleveland.

Travis your project sounds awesome! Are you still in WI? I've only been there a couple times but I can't imagine there being a lot of Costa Rican dance clubs there.
ReplyDeleteOnce you get to do some construction, I'd be interested to know which you find easier, constructing or deconstructing, and which you enjoy more.
Pura Vida, Salvati. Make sure that you use that phrase next time you are hanging out with the TICOS. Check out their latin beat and think about how the repetitive syncopated pulse is kept in the bass drum. 1 on kick, +of2 on snare, 3 on kick, 4 on snare. Be careful and smart. Don't stay out too late, especially if you need to work with power tools the next day. Keep the spirit alive.
