Simple Pleasures

Today was one of those mundane days here at the coop. I spent most of my time doing manual labor, and yet I'm still looking forward to the next opportunity I get to work on a bike. Not that there aren't merits to work I've done today. The tasks I dealt with were fairly simple: cutting tire tubes and sorting brake calipers. Yet, when I had completed the tasks, I really felt some weight had lifted off my shoulders. While it wasn't difficult by any means, it was work that had to be done.
Other than that, I finalized a VIP invitation list for the coop's Grand Opening (May 28). This isn't as complicated as it sounds: I searched for companies or organizations within a certain category (like environment or bike retail), and then jotted down their contact information. Boring: yes, but the task is done - meaning I'll have more time later to work on bikes!
Which leads me to remark on staff meetings & party planning. As an essential part of the coop, staff members are required to meet weekly to review certain tasks or discuss responsibilities. Needless to say, this was not my favorite part of the day, especially because all the extra tasks that had been put off for weeks were shoved my way! In that respect, the party planning commission/ group went better. And, to no surprise, I still took a backseat in the conversation. However I was surprised to learn that even party-planning for 60+ people isn't much different than organizing a birthday party. So today was more like a day of mental rest & rejuvenation. Can't wait for tomorrow (because I know it can only be better)!
