So tuesday night i got really sick and had a really rough night and was up till 7 am over the toilet so i called t=my volunteer coordinator, Megan, and told her i couldnt come in. I endd up sleeping the whole day in hopes to be well for today, which i was.
Today I went down to theSt. Mary's Hospital and worked in the pharmacy in the basement. The hospital has recently begun remodeling and needed to clear out an entire floor . So they donated all the furniture to Habitat. So today we had to take all that furniture apart and load it into the truck. During the morning we unscrewed, unbolted, and frankly ripped apart, every single piece of furniture in sight. This was the easy part of the day. The majority of the cabinets were made of pressboard which is ridiculously heavy. Once everything was loose we began taking hundreds of trips up and down the freight elevator to the loading dock where the truck was parked. It took the rest of the day to laod up the truck, even with all 14 of us, it probably took 4 hours. So today was a very labor intense day but I've started to get to know the regulars who help out with habitat. They are all great people. Tommoro I am working at thier resale store where they sell the donated items. It shouldbe a less intense day, at least physically.
Trav, take it easy. I hope that you feel better. When your brother arrives, you guys are going to need to take care of one another. You both have to be each other's mom while you are out on the road and at work. It sounds like you are developing your muscles.
